JEA grrrrr
It was nice when someone from Belkin called me over a broken iPod case, even though the iPod itself was also busted. It was also nice to have people inside Comcast contact me here and by phone when I was having DVR issues.
Now, my beef is with the Jacksonville Electric Authority. Since I have moved in, over $1000 worth of electronic equipment has been damaged by power surges at my converted condo, and I have never had that happen within only a couple months time EVER before. My notebook stopped being able to charge, luckily someone at Toshiba agreed to a “one time repair” when it burned out a day after the warranty expired. Not only that, but my Pogoplug is no longer working, and my Desktop just burned out another power supply, that’s actually happened twice since I moved in. My drier plug nearly had an electric fire too, had to be replaced.
These are not things I can just go and replace that easily. Since I have bills to pay, especially the ELECTRIC bill, which I am barely able to pay on time, which means i can’t do that one thing they offer to average out the bill month to month or whatever because to do that I have to always pay on time. That’s just not always possible.
It hasn’t just been at my condo, but in the same complex, at my grandmother’s a brand new Linksys wireless router burned out and so did her mobile phone charger. All JEA can tell me is “We don’t see any problem”. Sure. Thanks a pant load. Too bad they don’t have any competition.
